1957 - 2023

On 18th November 2023 the world lost a kind, generous and ever positive force in the loss of Judith (Judy).

A loving wife to George, mum to Rhionn and step mum to Richard, Judy was also a devoted Grandma to Max who was the centre of her world. Much loved sister to John and the late Jean and a mother figure to her extended family, especially her six nephews and nieces.

Judith was born on 31st August 1957 to Margaret and Charlie, the youngest of the three siblings joining John and Jean. Close to both siblings there are many happy memories of family gatherings, parties and Judy and Jean laughing together in mischief, both sharing the same wicked sense of humour.

She was a caring soul, starting her working life as a nurse at Bradford Royal and then continuing as a carer in the community after Rhionn was born.

She returned to university in the early 1990s to study Peace Studies at Bradford University and was so proud to have finished her degree whilst juggling work, being a mum and also supporting her own, now widowed mother.

She began work at North of England Athletics alongside her brother John in 1998 and quickly became a well respected member of the athletics family, the tributes on the Facebook pages of Northern and Yorkshire Athletics being a testament to this. She was honoured to have been made President of Northern Athletics for 2022 to 2023, even if she did dislike the attention and the photos!

She faced her illness with pride and bravery and was very grateful for the care and support provided by Dr Anthoney and his team at St James Hospital during her treatment. Any donations received will be donated to Leeds Hospitals Charity for work within their Cancer Centre.
